Treats For Your Tricks Mega Post

Saturday, October 27th, 2012

Got a few mixtapes, a bunch of tracks and then run down of some notable events taking place this evening.

Aaaand GOOO!!!

Karmon is a deep house producer/DJ from the Netherlands. The last year has been especially successful for him as his releases have garnered massive support accross the globe. I personally love his work and I’m really loving this set he put down for a radio station in Amsterdam.

UK badass Dusky is pretty much a household name these days and he further cemented that fact by laying down a most excellent mix for BBC Radio 1. Essential indeed.

My favorite Swedish Nu Disco/House outfit Monitor 66 recently dropped this amazingly sexy and soulful mix for British Label House Of Disco Records. Def a must listen.

Finally, I’d like to do more shameless self promotion by sharing my OctoBearTape with you all.

Aeroplane featured this lovely little remix from British house producer Ben Gomori on his recent mixtape. Good stuff.

Holy Ghost! is easily one of my favorite DFA outfits and one of my favorite bands in general and this is their latest (and might I say festive) masterpiece. Not a free DL so I recommend heading over to Itunes and snagging a copy.

Yep..yet another batch of brilliant freebies from Mr Malinchak. I’m firmly convinced that he can do no wrong.

A fantastic edit from sir Gigamesh.

I wasn’t really a huge fan of the original version of RAC’s first original Hollywood, but the remixes thus far have been brilliant. Cassian‘s is easily my favorite, but Treasure Finger‘s completely flipped it and I’m certainly digging his take as well.

Edwin Van Cleef blessed us with this gem a few days back…simple yet catchy and quite addicting.

This one might be a miss for some, but Paul Simon’s Graceland was a staple of my childhood and an absolutley fantastic album. This is a very simple yet effective edit of one of my favorite tracks off that album from Dutch producer The Starkiller.

Bufi‘s been rocking my world as of late. He’s one of many producers catching rec out of Mexico right now.

British producer T. Williams has taken the latest from Disclosure molded it into a four on the floor banger. I personally think it knocks the original clear out of the water. No word on a release yet.

Duke Dumont has been smashing it as of late hence the reason he’s one of my favorite producers right now. Coming on the heals of his most notable release to date “For Club Play Only” is this exclusive he released for free via Annie Mac.

Please don’t forget that the 11th installment of TheHundred is popping off this evening at Beauty Bar. The headliner tonight is none other than garage/house legend Todd Edwards featuring support from locals option4, Vanish, Werq and Fun Factory. Doors are at 9 and cover won’t kick in til 9:30 so if you thurr early, it’s free. If you don’t have no fear because cover is only $6 bucks which is a STEAL when compared to the talent in the building. If you’d like a taste of what to expect, then check out this freebie he released about a month ago and this video of his fabled Boiler Room set.

Hump Day Ho-Down (The Magician’s Magic Tape 25 dissected + More)

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Want to start off by thanking EVERYONE that made it out this past Saturday!!! It was a truly a magical evening full of memories, unicorns, dancing and debauchery.

In other news, I’m really happy to be a part of a new weekly that just started at Norad Dance Bar. Every Thursday. Ladies drink free til midnight. Super cheap drink specials for gents. Featuring a rotating schedule of resident DJ’s option4, Werq, Teena Pizza, Mike Dee(z), SBLove, LaruLoud, Matt Ferry and myself bringing you the best in Deep House, Disco edits and Nu Disco. This week marks the 3rd installment and I can’t think of another weekly in the city with a format of this nature so you should probably come check it out… especially if you find yourself moved by the tunes I post.

Now that I got all of that off my chest….lets get to the beats.

Last week The Magician came off of his Magic Tape hiatus and blessed us with #25. It features yet another slew of amazing auditory treats for your listening pleasure. As always, no tracklist and some are still unreleased as of now, but have no fear as I’ve taken it upon myself to dissect most of the track list and post the Soundcloud links which you’ll find below. The Two Door Cinema Club Remix from Mercury toward the end is AMAZING. No word on a release for it yet though. The fantastic Waze & Odyssey track he throws in second is slated for release in the coming month. The Jonas Rathsman track at the end was just posted by French Express yesterday…that generally means it will be released very very very soon.

02. Waze & Odyssey – Love That Burns (Hot Enough)
05. Sohight & Cheevy – Travel Anthem (Moullinex Remix)
07. NTEIBINT – Time (Fabrizio Mammarella Remix)
09. Two Door Cinema Club – Sleep Alone (Mercury Remix)

Lets continue our journey with the latest remix from Mr. Moon Boots.

Tagteam Terror takes Jonas Rathsman‘s deep house heater “Tobago” and gives it an infectious disco house kick. Good chit.

Keep em coming Sir Malinchak….

Colour Vision is a producer from Cali. This is his first official release and if it’s a sign of things to come…I think we can expect big things. This ranks among my top tracks from the past summer.

Tycho‘s electro-pop masterpiece gets the deep treatment from Belgium’s own Kolombo. The results are nothing short of beautiful.

Keeping it sexy here with the latest from UK producer Hot Since 82. I’ve had my ears on the chap for a minute and I really like what I’ve been hearing. Truth is…I’ve been hot since ’82 as well so he and I have a lot in common from that standpoint. (Insert awkward laugh here)

Lets round things out with the latest remix from our favorite local DJ/Producer option4. Slated for official release later this month, it’s hands down one of my favorites from him yet.

Finnebassen – Monday

The Gossip – Move in the Right Direction (Classixx Remix)

French Express Freebies (Issac Tichauer, Moon Boots Malinchak, Claes Rosen and Rogue Vogue)

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve developed a serious fascination with indie dance label French Express. They’re definitely the front runners in the recent Topical Disco movement and they’ve been on a role over the past year dishing out sun kissed releases (mostly for free) from some of the best up and coming producers on the scene via their Soundcloud page. Below you will find all of their most recent releases in one happy place for your listening and downloading pleasure.

Isaac Tichauer is one of the newest additions to their roster and his album Devotion marks the first long player released on the label. He’s yet another very talented producer from Australia. Click on the link at the bottom of the widget to go to Soundcloud and download each track individually.

Claes Rosen is a producer from Sweden. This tropical heater is his first contribution to the label’s catalogue.

Rogue Vogue hails from Chicago and they keep their focus on the golden age of house. All of their tracks thus far have been extremely solid and I expect them to gain momentum as the 2nd half of the year progresses. This is their latest and it saw the light of day on The Magician’s most recent Magic Tape 24.

Moon Boots is pretty much a household name these days and one of the most notable members of the French Express roster. I’m deeply saddened by the fact that I missed him when he played TheHundred this past weekend. Anyhew….he dropped a new track last week and it’s amazing as expected.

Chris Malinchak resides in NYC and he’s slowly but surely becoming a very notable producer in the House Realm. On this track he takes a Brandy vocal and turns it into a sexy summer anthem. The other is a slightly more chilled out, but still funky number that is guaranteed to make those panties drop. Well played Mr. Malinchak.

Head to for further investigations. Also, if you could please click like over to the right side of this page and show us some FB love we’d greatly appreciate it!
