Local love weekend awesomeness and other happenings

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

So much has been going on I don’t even know where to about.. January 28th with TheHundred Presents Kris Barman of INNERPARTYSYSTEM..that kicked off what I can only call a magical music weekend followed up with a Passion Pit DJ Set the next week..both shows far exceeded my highest expectations..anything that ‘TheHundred’ touches keeps getting better and better, a big shout out and props to option4 AKA Brennen Bryarly and all members of TheHundred for bringing the energy and vibe, keeping these events solid, which is another reason why I’m posting (What is theHundred, check the post here

Check out the next event! TheHundred Presents: BRENMAR   …..

Whats extra special about this event is that our very own Star Stuff Scallywags contributor and Denver local, Collin McKenna, will have a chance to display his DJ talents – and if he plans on mixing any of the songs he has posted lately  it will be a sure treat – what can we expect from Collin? We were lucky enough to get a sample of a few tracks that will likely be in his set tomorrow:

DJ Dan – Whores Play [Rising Music]

J PAUL GETTO – Represent (Edit) [Represent EP out 01/27/12 on Guesthouse Music]

Punks Jump Up – Get Down (Special CCCrash Mixxx)

I want more already!

What about the Headliner of the night? Blatantly stolen from the Facebook event page, “BRENMAR has demonstrated that R&B, house, hip-hop and juke can all be woven together in a future style sound that BRENMAR himself only describes as “Club music for the present”. With releases on Discobelle and several other large labels, this Chicago native has absolutely thrown the dance world a pleasant curveball that others are struggling to keep up with”

Brenmar – Temperature Rising

And how can we forget option4? Never heard a track or set from him that does not deliver.

Exoshere – Violet Winter (option4 remix)

Last but not least, keeping up with the spirit of local love, I would like to introduce a track by Ft. Collin’s own “Blendrix” ..his unique “mixture of multiple different bass-centric EDM sub-genres, combined with analog guitar riffs and glitch effects” will leave you craving for more..which if so you are in luck because we will have an interview, full EP, and other tracks posted soon!

Blendrix – Smirk (Original Mix)

ColeCo – Can’t Stop EP

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

I pride myself in keeping you informed on that FIRE. I encourage you to put these gents on your radar. They just dropped their first EP for free in celebration of Valentine’s Day. A steal to stay the least. Electro Disco tinged funkiness. Check the STELLAR remix of Flo And The Machines Cover of Drake’s Take Care if you need a prime example. Give it a go around below and click the image above to cop it. You can thank me later.

ColeCo – Can’t Stop

ColeCo – Val Kilmer

ColeCo- Push It

Florence + The Machine – Take Care [Drake Cover] (ColeCo Remix)

The Weeknd – Rolling Stone (ColeCo Remix)

Young Empires – Enter Through The Sun (ColeCo Remix)

Valentines day is upon us and I haven’t posted in a while….That means I’ve got a bunch of new tuneage to keep the single people (like me) distracted from signing up for the free trial of Eharmony. Take your time as I’ve covered a lot of ground here and there’s most definitely something to suit everyone’s taste and mood. I liken this post to a portable massage machine with various settings. That being said, if a certain selection doesn’t rub you the right way, then don’t listen or change the setting. You may ask why I didn’t choose a picture of cupid pooping or something. The answer is simply that the one I chose is awesome and the fact that it has nothing to do with anything makes it all the more awesome. Oh and Ladies…it’s not too late. I can still be your Valentine.

Sumptuous Soundcloud Selections:

letthemusicplay – space (Jacques Renault Remix)

^Shrowd of mystery surrounding whomever this may be. This remix from DFA’s Jacques Renault has some speculating James Murphy might be directly involved. Doubtful, but I’m loving what they’ve done thus far. Keep them on your radar.

Prince Club – It’s Not Right But It’s Okay (Prince Club “Hommage” Mix)

^Love new takes on old classics and what this kid’s been doing. Highly recommend investigating his soundcloud page. Pure house happiness.

Prince Club – Jaguars (Original Mix)

Worthy- Shy Look (Original Mix)

^Filth. Love it. I will be dropping this at a certain event I’m playing in a few weeks. Cop it on Beatport.

Bag Raiders – Snake Charmer (Cassian Remix)

^Hasn’t been released yet…my patience is wearing thin.

Death Hertz & No Body – Ready 2 Fly (Original Mix)

Tonite Only – Haters Gonna Hate (Nicky Romero Out Of Space Remix)

Afrojack & R3hab – Prutataaa (Dada Life Remix)

Chris Lake – Build Up (Tommy Trash Edit)

Maya Jane Coles – What They Say (Original Mix)

Just Kiddin – All The Way To Love (Original Mix)

Jonquil – It’s My Part (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix)

The Beatles – Come Together (Lisboa & Luthier Remix)

ANALOG SPACE presents: Afterdark #11 Psyzmic

^Denver talent right here brought to you by Peter Black and Co. Look out for this kid. Next level nastiness. Can you dig? I hope so..or we can’t be friends.

J Paul Getto Mix for Chicago House FM

^One of my fav Disco House outfits right here…doing what they do best.

Whitney Houston – How Will I Know (Deep&Disco Lost 80s Mix)
^RIP Whitney:(
